I only know of one Chevy that has had habitual tranny problems. It was my mom's. '99 Z71. She put 2 transmissions in it in the 248k miles that she drove it. Not bad IMO. Especially considering that the truck was just about always overthrottled (driver) until cruising speed (80-85mph.) I should have bought that truck. She complained about the 15mpg. I used it for a week and got 22mpg out of it. Less throttle meant more MPG in that vehicle.

Well low and behold SBump26 has to jump in and rant and whine and ruin a good conversation. Seems that is all he does. In the minors, we called umpires "wannabe's". They want to be an athlete but couldn't so they become umpires so they can control the athletes they never could be. Maybe you should change your name to wannabe. I told you before you can't let things go but you are right about one thing - I kind of feel sorry for you. See ya around wannabe!

It's ok, I have been a little too hard on the youngsters. An umpire has to have a tough skin and the wannabe's don't bother me too much. smile

I rest my case. It's not a Toyota Tacomo therefore they are not known to hold up that well. And its not about having fun with anything. It is about the [censored] you spew about any other vehicle brand except what you have that doesn't have any problems and tows better than anything else out there and saying out the other side of your mouth that you don't necessarily think any other brands are that bad (except Ford F150's 5.4L with bad paint). I kinda feel sorry for you.

Not true I have owned 2 GMs and in one of them I did replace a tranny at about 65K. I even got a discount from a claim that the BBB had filed. I work with a lady that has had 3 in her Tahoe. I am not why but some people run them forever and never have problems. What we need is a tranny guy to come on here and tell us what he repairs most often. I know exactly what the ones I know will say.

This morning is a prime example of why I will ALWAYS have a 4x4 truck. When I got off work at 5am and had to drive 40 miles home in the blowing ice and snow, I put it in 4 high and breathed a sigh of releif as I passed car after car in the ditch. With a 2 wheel drive truck you have no weight on the rear axle and have a very hard time maintaining traction in the ice and wet roads. I may only use it like that a couple times a year, but those few times more than pay the difference in my mind.
