Better to have it and not need it than it is to need it an not have it. After you have had a 4 wheel drive vehicle it is hard not to continue buying them. Ive had 2 wheel drive vehicles that got stuck on wet grass. That will never happen again. The ramp at Fairfield also changed my mind.

My fishing buddy and I bought our trucks two months apart. He bought a 2005 Chevy ext cab 5.3 geared 3.83 2wd I bought a 2005 Chevy ext cab 5.3 geared 4.10 4X4
He gets 18-22 I get 16-20
New, the 4X4 cost 2500 more than 2wd.
However, if we were to trade, i would get 4,000 more for the 4WD.
4wd will hold value alot better. And if I were in the market to buy a truck, I'd take his in a heartbeat... lower price, better gas mileage... less to break down. Sorry I'm being funny. He's already had to put in a new Transmission in his 2wd @ 115,000. Mine has 130,000 and all i've changed is the brakes.

Did he do any maintenance on that tranny? It is amazing how many people don't. On most ramps limited slip is even adequate. It might be a different story on lakes like Travis and Amistad.

Must be an engineering/design flaw. He should get on forums every chance he gets and [censored] all over others posts and tell the world every chance he gets that Chevy makes the worst trucks and everyone is crazy for buying one all the while keeping the truck that is the worst ever made so he has "first hand knowledge" of what he speaks. Then when you are done doing that, [censored] all over other posts about your Toyota that can outhaul, outlast all other trucks in the world. Even larger more horsepower, more torque and more weight trucks and get the best gas mileage and how why would anybody be so crazy not to think like I do???
Put the plug in.

This exact reason why I have never owned a GM. I would not say design or engineering flaw just that their tannies are known not to hold up that well. Now have your fun with this one.

I didnt know that their transmisions were "known" to not hold up. I have never had problems with any Gm trans. Put 265K trouble free on the last one, got over a million miles on the 3 sttin in the driveway at home with not a lick of trouble, most of them are weekly or every other week tow vehicles too.

I've had the same experience redchevy, just good maint. and no problems, but I have heard of stuff happening That being said it happened to a buddy of mine, but to say it kindly I am not sure he knows what maintenance means... but he does know to drive a vehicle hard and push it to its limits. Hmmmm... maybe there is a correlation

I rest my case. It's not a Toyota Tacomo therefore they are not known to hold up that well. And its not about having fun with anything. It is about the [censored] you spew about any other vehicle brand except what you have that doesn't have any problems and tows better than anything else out there and saying out the other side of your mouth that you don't necessarily think any other brands are that bad (except Ford F150's 5.4L with bad paint). I kinda feel sorry for you.
Put the plug in.
