I am about to need new tires on my trailer and I'm currently running Marathons.

What tires do you run, do you like them, would you buy them again?

Firestone Firehawks 500's on the BassCat trailer as well as my Flatbed for the tractor.

Goodyear Marathons are okay.

Carlisle tire are a no no in my book.

I have a question that relates to this....my front tires are wearing a lot faster than the back. Should I be rotating them?

I've never noticed it until now.

I'm running Towmax (if I'm not mistaken). Back tires look great....front not so much!

Check to make sure all the tires have the same air pressure. Rotate front to back same side of the axle.

OH and one RANT that I have to complain about with trailer tires....maybe if TXDOT would smooth the roads out a little we could make them last longer!

I broke a front tie down strap this weekend on these rough roads we have in Texas! Thank goodness for safety chain! flehan

OKAY....I've said my RANT about tires and roads! I feel better! bang

Carry on! grin

Do a search on here or on bassboatcentral.com and you will have plenty to read about. You will find that a lot of people trash goodyears. However, a large portion of boats have them...sure, some are going to fail. I believe that's why you read more bad about them. There aren't nearly as many carlisle tires on the road from what I've seen.

I understand about the rough roads, I bent my back axle and I'm pretty sure it was on 75 comming south out of McKinney during the overpass construction. Cost me $400 for a new axle, had to be custom build for my trailer.

I have noticed a lot of new boats are coming with Carlisles lately. I have had 2-3 sets of the Triangle brand trailer tires I got at Cowser in Ft. Worth and they have been excellent and I put a lot of miles on my trailers. They are usually $60-65 each installed but they may have recently went up. 3 year warranty on them too.

Cowser Tire in Ft. Worth. Ask for Kevin as he is a fisherman also and usually takes care of you if he knows. I have a set on the Skeeter right now. He reccommended them to me a year or so back and so far I have been very impressed. They come stock on a lot of travel trailers but are not widely known in the boating market yet.

If your front tires are wearing a lot faster than your rear tire my guess is your not towing level. Put your rig on level ground and check it out. May need to adjust your hitch height.

I try to tow with a slight angle up to the front. Not much higher...I'd rather be higher in the front than lower.

I'm assuming this is correct?

I just sort of thought the front tires are taking most of the impact on the road before the back tires. Thus wearing faster?

I bought a set of "High Run" trailer tires from Tractor Supply. 6 ply, 1820# load rating.

It's a Ford/Chevy kind of thing. Most important thing is to keep them at max cold pressure. If you (like most people) drive 70mph it's really important to boost the pressure some. Most trailer tires are rated to 65mph at cold max. If it says 50psi cold keep them there and much fewer problems not matter what brand you run.
