Head West toward Weatherford. Somewhere around Exit 406 or 408 will be Tin Top. Take exit stay on service road. I think it may be the first intersection you come to. There will be a sign. Turn left (South) and follow it to the river. All of that said, I'm not sure what the bank fishing is like at Tin Top. I posted that response because I had caught a bunch upstream from there from private property. Another place is Hamm's Creek. I'm actually more familiar with that area. To get there from 20, the best I can tell by looking at a map, take 20 to I35W, go South to 174. Go through Cleburne on 174 to the edge of Rio Vista. Head West on C.R. 916 until you see sign. It's probably 10 miles or so. If you miss it, you will see PRIVATE PROPERTY signs and the road narrows to almost one lane. Go back about 1/4 mile. You can fish the mouth of the creek where it joins the river. If you decide to go that direction, shoot me an e-mail, via my profile. We went today and it was terrible, but I think the fluctuation in depth and flow had a lot to do with it.
Good Luck,
T- Gil

This may be farther above Granbury than you're thinking, but I've done well in the river below PK. There's a big pool between hwy 16 and the dam, and it's full of whites/hybrids and some nice bass and other things too. Bank access is great when they're not releasing water at the powerhouse. Plus, I'm usually the only one there except for the trout fishermen, and there's probably not many of them this late. Good luck,

Allen

That's it. Its a decent walk to get to that big pool, but there's a trail as well. The whole thing is pretty shallow except for the far west side, which gets down to 20' deep or so. You'll likely have to stand on the rocks to cast there and be careful. I caught a 5lb drum the last time I fished those rocks.

Yep, that's the place. There's a trail from the highway which is still accessible at high water, but when the water's low, I'll get out on the sandbar and fish the shallow end too. That's where I've found most of the bass. The whites are schooled up in the deeper water by all the rocks. I always catch drum, too. The last one went about 3-4 lbs. There's big carp, gar and catfish in there too,and maybe some striper, but I've yet to catch one. I'll get back out there in the next week or two. Maybe I'll have some company?

Brazos below PK makes for great 2-day fish/camp trip. Really pretty with some manageable & fun rapids. There's outfitter on river below PK rents canoes and will drop you below dam for trip back to your car at their place. We left Sat.PM and stretched till Mon. 1 yr. and had whole river to ourselves.

If the weather is good and I like what I see for release times, I'd like to get out there again next sun-mon (10-11th). I'll post again if I'm going. I catch everything on Krocodile spoons, Rooster tails, and (don't laugh) great big purple Rapalas. BTW, I'd love to do the canoe thing someday if anyone needs an extra.
