Woah. People live in Amarillo?! No way.
I visited there (palo duro actually) many years ago. Love that part of Texas, as odd as that sounds... But not only am I surprised that there are people living there, I don't remember a natural body of water anywhere close to there!

Grew up in amarillo,suggest you bring your own water. Had to drive to new mexico at conchas to fish.

I grew up in Amarillo as well. Lake Meredith in Fritch is a great place to fish but mostly if you have a boat. Though you can catch quite a few sandies there from the bank if you are in the right place. You might ask around at bait shops there.
They are also putting in a new lake at Southwest park which is at Coulter and 45th. I think they are going to stock that, you might check there.
I can't think of other places right now off the top of my head.

my cousin said there was one south of the airport, they do pretty good in for cats, and bass. I can't remember the name of it though.
