I was listening to the news early this morning and heard that our government, as of last week, authorized the ethanol content of gasoline to be increased to 15%. As the ethanol subject has been discussed on this forum several times, it'll suffice to say that if you're using gasoline in your outboard that contains ethanol and are not using anything to counteract it's properties, you'll soon be contributing to our economy in the form of a new fuel system for your outboard. Take heed......

What fuel additives do you use to counteract ethenol?

Surely we will still be able to buy E10. My truck is not rated to burn fuel with higher percentages of ethanol.

I read this all the time, I ran 1,392 gallons of fuel through my 225 Yamaha last year with no issues. I haven't used any type of "stabilizer" in 5 years.

It ain't easy making it look easy.

What about the people that don't use their boats that often. The fuel sits there and eats away at O rings and gaskets.

If work was as much fun as fishing, I'd LOVE my job!

Stabil Marine (blue) or Startron fuel stabilizer. Both are good.

I spent 150 days at the lake last year and never a problem with my Evinrude or gas vehicles in the last several years either. Im no scientest nor do i know enough to argue the point but for many years people used small amounts of alchohol to displace water in gasoline. Im wondering if there may be some water in the fuel tanks where these guys are buying their fuel I will admit that ethanol is hard on rubber fuel lines which so far i have been very lucky with as well. Don't get me wrong though as i am not a supporter of ethanol in any way!!!!

Yup the farmers are happy but when they first started with this ethanol buisness the uneducated public myself included supported it because we mistakenly thought that it would bring the cost of fuel down Instead they want to skate around the real problem which is cost and cram this alternative energy [censored] down our throats. We all know that didnt happen Im not even going to get started on fuel prices i would rather somebody spit in my face daily then continue to get hosed at the pump though. And i don't care to hear well fuel is $10.00 in this part of the country. Before you know it they will be trying to make us pull electric boats and campers to the lake with electric pickups. Sorry for the hyjack just had to rant about my biggest pet peeve in the world fuel prices. Im done now.

I had an issue with the fuel lines that connect my priming bulb to my fuel tank. They split at the bulb and fuel ran into my hull. I don't know if ethanol was to blame. I have had no engine problems to date. Knock on wood...
