Anyone have any suggestions for surfside. I will be heading down there in june and was curious where to try. Should i just fish the piers or is there somewhere else I can give it a shot.

Lots of places to try. I usually fish the surf or on the inshore waters. If you head east out of town on bluewater highway towards Galveston you will find all sorts of place to fish. Keep going a few miles and you will get to SLP ( San Louis Pass ), havent fished there but a lot of people talk about it.

This year we will be down in June and we decided to hire an inshore guide, so that might be something else you can look at.

When you get down there, just stop at one the bait shops and ask what has been hitting lately and where, most will be very helpful.

We went for the first time a few years ago and I feel in love with that place, this will be my 4 trip in 3 years and I wish I go more.

Here is the guide we hired, his name is Randal Groves.

If you go up the bluewater highway to beach access there are lots of places. take a cast net and catch you own bait (finger sized mullet)set up a double drop leader with a 3oz spider weight on the botton and fish live bait in the 2nd gut you will catch reds and troutin june. we go around this time every year and this is my personal favorite and most productive pattern.

The surf fishing for trout ought to be on in June. Use soft plastics on a jighead in chartreuse colors, live shrimp under a cork, as stated above live finger mullet and topwaters. The Surfside or Quintana Jetties are are available. The 61st St. pier is in operation in Galveston. There are accesses along Blue Water Hwy going toward Galveston from Surfside. If you like to get wet you can wade to the 1st and/or 2nd sandbar off the beach and fan cast 180* left to right. If nothing hits move a few yards either to your right or left and repeat. Need a pretty calm day to be extra productive. The Surfside to Galveston area is a great place for this type of fishing. It's the kind of fishing that I live for. Good luck. I may see you out there.
