I'm going to be in the Woodlands on company business for 15 days from mid to late February. Native Texan who lives in Nebraska. Looking forward to open water fishing that's not iced over. Anyway, I'll have some spare time available and should have some limited fishing equipment I can pack along. Just wondering if anyone had any small lake ideas for that area. Not looking to invade anyone's honey hole, just wanting some easy advice. Looking primarily for bass/sunfish. I'd seen some stuff about Lake Raven and was curious. Also had read somewhere about canoe/kayak rentals at Raven. Any info? Thanks.

Lake Woodlands is as good as any. If you can get a yak, head Northwest from the boat ramp to the mouth of the creek. Bass and Crappie stacked up there right now.

Lake Raven is a beautiful lake. The only problem is that I think the canoes are put up for the winter. Call the park between 7am and 5pm. They will be able to answer your questions. I think also south of The Woodlands on the north bound feeder of I-45 north of Rayford-Sawdust Rd. There is a kayak rental business. It is a two story tan brick building. Good luck
