lake austin is the revirene impoundment that runs through the city and sometimes rferred to as town lake.. correct?
if so, I believe this is not the first SAL and these fish live in deep clear water and may gorge on baby rainbow trout that are stocked regularly.
If I am right about these fish, what we have, is a mini version of a california lake.. like dixon or castaic..with deep clear water and large amounts of trout forage to grow big and fat on...... may not be the last SAL to come out of this lake.
The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. ~John Buchan

Town lake is a seperate lake from Austin Lake. There have been several 13+ pound bass come out of Austin Lake. Town Lake is located on the south side of Austin off of I35, and Austin lake is located off of Highway (Loop 360)in the western part of Austin and is more like river fishing then lake fishing.

Not saying I would do such a thing, but if it was caught in Lake Austin, perhaps it would be better to claim some other lake, lest success ruin Lake Austin.

It's more than the catfish would do.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I caught the fish a little before 6p.m. on 1-27-2011. It came from under a dock that was still in the water. I caught it on a Bomber Fat Free Shad in the Citrus Shad color. She made several runs and finally my partner (Kevin Hoes) lipped her into the boat (no net).

Good thing its dead now!
Is it dead now ?
We need to keep the smaller fish in the breeding pool.
Unless you are wearing a grass skirt and sleeping in a ditch and eating only road kill, you too are part of 'the problem'.
