Has anyone been out there lately? I've never been there but with all the reports I've heard about the crappie being up in the creeks I was thinking about going out there Monday. That is if it is even fishable.

Glad you asked I've been wondering what the rain is going to do down there. Maybe someone will let us know. If the creek is flowing pretty good at least the catfish would be active. Sure would like to have a look and see. Cars overheating so have to sort that out before I get too far from the house.

Just got home from Marshall Creek. The only spot that has any depth at all is the old bridge. Between that and the lake looks to be one foot at best wit a couple spots only a few inches. Unless the crappie and sandbass are part salmon I doubt they will make it up the ditch...I mean creek. Caught one small bass next to the bridge and had one other bite. The place looks so different from last year when all the cover was flooded. Now it is all high and dry.

I plan on doing some scouting out there next week. I've been out of commision for two weeks, my truck was stolen. But now that its back as soon as the repairs on done the fish better watch out.

That area is extremely dry right now! It's a good time to get back there though and see where there is any structure or stumps where the crappie will hold! You can basically see everything! If you want to pay the three bucks to get into Marshall Creek, it's a great time to walk down the shores and find the stumps. Maybe mark them with a GPS (if handy). Not much fishing to do, but it could come in handy for next season. If you haven't been in there in a while, you'll be floored. At the beginning of duck season my jaw hit the ground. All duck season I watched the watter drop and drop again. It's pretty sick! We got that 1.5" of rain, but it didn't do much other than made the shores muddy! Still need to pray for more rain!

J I was thinking about making some more structure out of fence slats for when the water does come back up. Was kinda fun to see all the deer tracks in the mud around the bank.

Here is a little update. There is some water flowing at the 377 bridge but not more than a trickle. I went down there to jig for some crappie and ran into a guy and his son who were fishing for sandies. They were catching 7-8" males right under the bridge. I saw them catch about five before I had to head home. We still need a couple of good rains to get them up stream.
I caught 3 black bass in the 6" range, and 6 crappie under 10". I was very suprised to see any sandies at all. There are sections of the creek that are less than 2" deep. I walked across the creek just east of the bridge and never got the top of my boots wet.
BTW, the creek is 100% dry at I-35. I have been fishing the area for about 20 years and this is the first time I have seen it dry at the insterstate.
Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity. Patton

I actually saw deer out there while duck hunting! Irronically, the last day of deer season I got within 60 yards of a small 8 point on the waters edge! Go figure! Also, I had two coyotes come out while "duck hunting". Both came out at different times on the same night. one had half it's tail ripped off! He got pretty close. I thought he was going to walk right noext to me, in which...BAM! Never happened though!
