Thanks badkarma...those look cool.

Tony:

Thats correct (6" to 8" shad)! When I jerk these things around all types of fish hit them. I have even caught a drum. I think the fish must be really, really hungry or I am forcing a hardwired feeding response to occur. It is phenominal. I will bring my camera next time I am out.

Peace.

Wow Outta Line, would like to see how a shad gets hooked on a crankbait.

I believe you though. Its funny how I can catch little fish on fairly large crankbaits. I fish a lot of combo jig / crankbait set ups from the shore when I think finesse is less important that noise (stained warm water, high waves, schooling shad). I keep the rod tip high and reel, stop, reel, stop. On the stop the jig will fall in front of the floating crankbait which will be floating up from behind, then the crankbait will swim down and the jig will go up on the retrieve. Caught lots of small largemouth, drum, sandbass, and one channel this way.

I caught the only fish on our short family trip to Lavon a few weeks ago...on a crankbait...a cute, little, 3-inch shad. He was foul hooked.

To keep it on topic...that was on a Bomber...now I am buying Rapalas! laugh

Too Bad Chris Bailey from WRC doesn't post on here! In my book, he is THE authority on fishing Rapalas, especially in clear water running streams!

A few years ago, he absolutely put on a clinic, daily, for almost two months running, on an absolutely phenomenal white bass run in WRC!

It stands to this day as one of the most amazing displays of how to fish a lure like a Rapala I have ever seen!!!

It's a fish gettin' booger, no doubt about it!

SHEESH Chuck! With you prowling the upper creek, and Chris the lower parts, those whites' days are definitely numbered! You two need to leave a couple for me!!

BTW, thanks for the Husky Jerk, it has already paid off, first with hordes of em "flashing" it, then finally some schools that didn't wanna dance, but instead wanted to eat!!!

Havin' fun now!!!

Rudy

Isn't it cool to watch the fish "flash" by! It allows you to see which technique is most attractive to the fish. You all don't have to worry about me reducing the number of fish...I throw them back. I have been using the Glass Shad Rap #4 lately. Anybody have any luck at the WRC delta? I can see many fish with the fish finder; however, I can't seem to get them to bite. Even with the Rapalas. Going out this AM to try again.

Peace.
