I prefer stealth colors. If I want to be visible I can use a paddle with bright colored blades or wear a bright hat. The movement of the paddle or the height of the hat above the water line/waves will make me as visible as having a neon kayak, in my opinion....

I fish on lakes where guides refer to kayaks as "speed bumps". Bright is good

I actually prefer the "yellow" of the ones on the site.

Good looking yaks, Phill

It's kind of like the song Torn between two lovers

I ordered the red one, then saw a post of the yellow one and am now torn......LOL

I have a green yak now, but I will probably get a brighther color next. I feel like it's much safer. I wear a yellow PFD, so that helps, but a bright yak would be even better.

Ding ding ding ding, we have a winner. If you want to be seen on the water bright paddle blades, hats and shirt/lifevest are the way to go. Kayak color is indiscernible from a boater because of waves and sunlight reflecting off the water.

Bright colored kayaks are good for rescue situations where you need to be spotted by air. But if that situation should arise, you shouldn't have been on the water in the first place.

Good point, I have red and white automotive reflective tape on the blades of my paddles. Something I picked up when doing the Texas Water Safari.

I don't have a paddle to swing in the air with my Hobie, so, I got smart and got a LED crappie light and put inside my "white" hull for my night excursions in open water. I look like a poorly designed christmas ornament that is way over inflated. They see me all right, but now I attract boats like mosquitos coming to see what the H*** I am.
At least the wardens know me from afar. They know without approaching it's the "screwball with the tv in the glowing yak". The first warden that came up to me at night wile I had the side imager on at night, pulled up alongside and said, " tell me you did NOT put a TV in a kayak !" I told him I did not want to miss dancing with the stars and now he doesn't even speak to me. :-)

I do like the idea of very bright paddles. I always see a paddle long before I see the yak or person in it. Good point.

This speed bump will put 9 quarter sized holes in their hull and still have a round left for his forehead if his new shiney strainer I made for him wasn't enough to discourge his present course.

I think that i'm going to stick with the red and black that I ordered. If I sell another of my kayaks then I might order the yellow with black at that time.I do use yellow to make me visible while fishing it's just in the form of my Rod Glove sleeves. They are visible from a distance.
