I caught a wild hair and decided at the last minute to go try out a spot on Lake Palestine that I had been wanting to fish for a while. I spent a very lonely and cold nite in my truck, the weather really stunk, and I caught a couple fish in the process. I enjoyed the trip and want to try the lake again, the fish that I have seen out of there are much better looking than the ones I catch out of the river. As you can see it was cold, about 25 when I got out of the truck. I had one 15 pound fish around 12:30 in the morning, and then I really don't know what time the smaller fish got on the line, but I reeled it in just after 7:00 a.m. It never ran, I just happened to see my line moving in a strange way, never made the alarm sound, maybe something to do with the wheel being iced up a bit from the rain the evening before. Really wish I had a better pick of the 15, it was a nice looking fish but my flash washed it out. Both of these fish were released. One fish on anise maize and one on fruit punch maize. I used a simple oatmeal and cracked corn method, didn't put out much bait since it was close to dark when I got there and the weather was so nasty.
