I sometimes think that some of the people these days weren't wooped enough as children, but then you see some of the parents these days....they weren't wooped enough as children either!

the worst thing is not only that he did it in front of his children, but he asked them put his catch in the bucket also. And the boy carry his little bucket with him while he made his cast.

Agforest, That's the whole point, when you do call them and if its not life threatening they won't show up hours later. I feel sorry what happened to you, but we do have idiots out there that don't care for others. You did the right thing by packed and left.

Well guys, my opinion is that the Mexican probably didn't know that there is a size per species. The youngin just hasen't been instructed on fishing. Dad doesn't care about so he sure is not going to teach the kid the right way. (CALL CALL CALL) If he doesn't know the right rules he will learn them pretty quick from the Warden.
when in doubt, throw a trap

I've seen people doing things like that at Grapevine a lot too. I've also seen quite a few people keeping undersized sandies, catfish and so on, basically just keeping whatever they caught. I remember one time I was fishing and I noticed the person down the shore had a bunch of small, silvery fish on the bank. I figured they were probably drum, no size/limit on them obviously. But later when I was packing up to leave I walked by and realized they were sandies and at least half of them were well under 10 inches.
I see stuff like that all the time, and of course people love to leave their trash lying all around Murrel Park, in the picnic, and camping areas, especially. Which really pisses me off. I just checked out a new area ( For me ) Yesterday, the camping area with all the rocks on the shore line, gorgeous looking spot, looks great for fishing for carp, bass, sandies, crappie, and if there are any smallies in the area, that's where they'll be lol. But anyway, it was absolutely filthy with trash. Beer cans, fishing line, a pizza box, dead fish, weights, paper, plastic, everything. Saw several of those beer/coke cans with the fishing line tied around them too. It's like people fish there and literally just dump all their trash on the bank before they leave.
Makes me sick.
I don't have a cell phone or anything so I can't call the game warden to report it when I see people doing anything like that either.

Yeah, I know what you mean 2young. I usually have a fillet knife with me, for fish, line, or anything else lol. But if there are several guys out there doing illegal stuff and I think they know it's illegal, there's not really much I can do when I'm buy myself, much as I'd like too. Especially cause you never really know who's packing heat these days lol. IF you get in their face too much, they might take out a gun or head back to their car and get one. Game Wardens are armed for a reason after all lol.
Best thing to do is call the Warden, maybe you could even try to make it sound more urgent then it is, get them out there faster.

YES!!!! Please someone call the warden. we all have to obey bag limits and size limits and just because he is of another race or maybe hard up for a little bit of grocerys he should still have to go by the same guidelines that everyone else has to. I would have called him in right then and there. It IS OUR DUTY as sportsmen and conservationists to preserve the future of our wild life even if it means getting someone in trouble that doesn't know the laws of the state. Remember when we all signed our fishing licence we all in a way took an oath to help uphold the laws of the outdoors in the state. SO CALL IN ON HIM NOW!!!! Give the warden a description and a location and I promise you they will patroll that area and areas close by.

The correct term would be hispanic. Doing nothing is bad. We all have to live by rules. In the long run it will just cost us our fish by bad harvesting practices. I wouldn't even wait to see him again.... Give "the man" a call and they may catch him in the act!!!

I see that sometimes, and not at even semi-nice spots either, but nasty spots.
Not going to make any comments with race for fear of backlash, but let me just point out that this doesn't seem to be uncommon at all. I've seen two fellows, for instance, throwing a net out at this one place a few times. They aren't catching much but what they do catch is certainly not legal to keep. I assume they are catching food for themselves/family.
Anyway, for whatever reason, it is still very wrong, quite illegal, though I promise you a lot of places where it happens/would happen would be too out of the way for most game wardens.

I was fishing at Tower Bay at Lake Lewisville and there was a group of about 4 Mexicans leaving just as I was arriving. They passed right by me with a wire basket with about 50 assorted fish. I know the couple of sandies they had were under the legal limit but most of the variety of panfish were no bigger than my 6 yo son's hand. What is the legal size limit for panfish, anyway? And whats the number for the Game Warden for Denton County?
Peace...through superior firepower.
