Hi, I am pretty new here, just reading other peoples stuff mostly. Just curious if any of y'all have fished Lake Waco recently, especially since they expanded the lake and flooded all that timber and what not. Heard it has been dynamite. Anyone had any luck. I was thinking about trying it out.

yes it was preety good but the lake is down about 6 foot and all the cover is only 1 or 2 feet deep now.but you still can catch some really good fish. you cant go wrong with a spinnerbait and most people throw plastics. try to find the deeper cover.P.S there is a lot of hydrilla now.

I've heard the fishing has gotten really good too, but have yet to get out there, always seem to go to aquilla instead.

The best thing about the lake is that since they raised the 7 ft, we will be able to launch there for a while. Even though it is down about 6 ft it still is above what it used to be and the ramps can handle it dropping at least 4-5 more feet. Hopefully, we will get some rain since then.

As for the fishing, it has gotten lots better. Right after it was raised I could catch a thing. However, I think the population of fish has caught up to the extra water level and we the fishermen have figured out the new patterns. I mainly do white bass and catfishing there. We have done well lately for white bass along the old dam and out from Airport Park. Also for catfish during the spawn we did well along the rocks at Airport Park and now have done well drifting shad or DK's Punch bait along the shore between Speegleville Marina and the long point towards the dam.

Not a bad little lake overall and its close to home. Good for the gas tank!

Little lake? what is it like 9000 or 10000 acres now? Pretty damn big if you ask me. Anyone catching any crappie?
