parked at castle and headed south ...hard to fish since the slick mud kept me from getting to most areas i normally fish ...was out there for about 2 hours and got skunked ...saw 3 others and no one got a bite ...water is murky, a little fast, and the banks slick

Unless we get rain I do not see a sandbass run this year. They are not like Salmon and will not be able to get over landlocks. We are going to have some bad sandbass seasons coming up. bang bang bang

The gene pool could use a little chlorine.

well i dont know what yall are usin for baits but i still caught some yesterday below the gun range. i was fly fishin again with a yellow fly. i was down there for 2 hours about and caught 6 only today and my g/f caught 2- shes just learning how to fly fish and she started 2 weeks ago. and no they are not runni like salmon yet. it was mid febuary- march when they were runnin hard....im just catchin the horney males that are lookin to get some fast...i caught them all on sinking line in the deep pools....they are hard right now and you just have to be patient.

tarponfly,

Stop spreading rumors that white bass will bite flies. It's not true laugh

Keep the report coming. We are still waiting on things to start here in Central TX

Sandbass spawn all over lake ray hubbard, any shallow rocky area that gets alot of wind to create some current and they will spawn there. with the lake being low I'm sure there is a shallow underwater road or train embankments that will provide a spawning area.

Well I'm no expert, but I've been witness to many a sandbass moving through a 2' wide by 6" deep stretch of water in bunches.

Put it this way, we took rocks and stacked 'em up in an attempt to "herd" the fish...but they still got around.

Sandbass can and will run in shallow water.

Your sandbass spawning runs should be fine and kicking off real good any time now. wink
