Need opinions quick about the minn kota max 101lb footcontrol. I got a good deal if I act quick and wanted to see if anyone has this trolling motor and the pros and cons.
Thanks, Matt

Had Motor Guide 109 and switched to Minn Kota 101 one of the best trades I ever made.

I have a 101lb Fourtrex on a Puma. The best thing that I have done for my boat other than the ETEC 225HO. The only thing that I would say is make sure you get a four bank charger so you don't have to use a stand alone charger. It will hold anywhere, anytime and for a long period of time. It will outlast my desire to stay on the wind blown whatever. At low speeds that are very quiet. I love the foot control as it leaves my hands free to do whatever and I have had both hand and foot controls. The downside is 4 batteries. I find myself just cranking up on the trolling motor to move instead of firing up the main if moving reasonable short distances.

The only thing I didn't see mentioned is they are heavy to deploy and pick up..... even with lift assist.

The assist lift makes a huge difference. I think the reason you didn't see it mentioned is because you don't really think about the weight with lift assist.

I just traded a motorguide for this.. my back is really thanking me.. i can literally let go of the rope and the motor just eases down onto the bracket going either way.. you must have a bad shock on your lift assist.

Easy stow and lift. I have the fourtrax also, very easy on the back. Now all I have to do is recessed tm tray.
