+1 to keep it low!!
After Rita and Ike livingston was pulled down 7.5 - 8 ft. Gave people a chance to work on bulkheads and docks, plant grasses and maintain brush piles. White bass went nuts for several years. No B.S....I don't catch short fish. In a year and a half maybe 2. Shad are freakin everywhere. It help the entire ecosystem. Breaks the silt down, shorelines expand, concentrates baitfish....all good in the long run.

Tony and Cameron are right. Wouldn't hurt my feelings any to see it 8+ feet low for a while. We could use the "new lake effect" around here to stimulate better hydrilla growth in the future.

If I remember reading correctly they can pump out 5 acre feet and during the drought a few years ago the lake was down some 5-7 feet. If we don't get the rain and they get the 5 acre feet we'll experience that new lake effect sometime in the future when we get the rain. Unfortunately, the home owners knew or should have known what could happen if drought and pumping occurred in the same year to the extreme. They will just have to launch like the rest of us. Remember, when Fork was new the catching was awesome and fun. We may see a similar situation if all things work together some day IMO.

Pumping water out isnt a huge issue if we get normal rainfall.
Fork has only dropped a foot since October. The lake had been holding at ~3.5 foot low for about a month now. If it goes to ~5.5 foot low by August, I expect the pucker factor will start embellishing itself if Dallas is still pumping steady.
Ill be hoping for some serious rain. For sure but you know with Fork's vast drainage a couple of good rains and we'll be full.

I made the run from LFM down to Mustang on the cut on the west side of the lake, but I wonder how much longer that will be a safe run. It was a little spooky running it Saturday. More timber just keeps showing up!! If it goes to ~5.5 foot low by August, I expect the pucker factor will start embellishing itself if Dallas is still pumping steady.
I agree with Tom C..... I didn't have much pucker making the same run on saturday that fishn_man took...I haven't fished fork THAT long, and I like the level right now...easy to see the creek channels!!!

Plus give Fork newbies like me a chance to really get out there and see what is on the lake bottom a bit and really lay out some great trails and paths to run in normal conditions.

JR is right, you guys shouldn't be complaining until you see some of our lakes like Ivie, Twin Buttes, Oak Creek, etc... I can't even launch at Buttes now only the smaller lighter weight aluminum boats can float at the ramp safely. Not true, You can still safely launch a Twin Buttes, also the city came out and made parking access for the secondary ramp out there. But I do agree that our lakes need rain. Like I said some boats can launch but not all boats can. I certainly can't.
At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

In New mexico we have lots of fluc in water, droughts, etc. 15-30' low is not uncommon. What I have noticed over the years is that when the lake is low and the weeds grow in and then the water comes up. Bam ... more plankton, more bait, fatter bass and more growth. The fishing for stripers when it is real low is pretty good too. But for us the draw down period has less baitfish and the fish get skinny. It is not a good thing to have all of the time. Also at EB they have to move marinas around for a lot of $ the state has to help with the cost. We have been blessed with more water the last few years. Texas is blessed with a lot of lakes/water, from what I have seen.
