I have had the dual Talons for a couple months now. They work fine. No issues. The true test will be time. I saw more 'pros' then 'cons' with the Talons, when compared to the Power Poles. That's just my opinion. I don't think you can go too wrong with either manufacturer. Like Jack mentioned, only time will tell on the durability of the Talons.

Talon is simpler, needs less room, and only reasonable option. It's looking that way, I am just waiting for more reports on Talon and durability before I pull the trigger. I hate to say it but I have to agree....

U want to go under a low bridge or dock walkway, u can't with a talon unless u carry wrenches to take it off or lower it, a powerpole u just hit a switch or remote, lower it down and go on under. Yes they juggle around when running but think of it as shock absortion, if your truck didn't have shocks the first big bump you hit, somethings gunna break... I hate to say it but I have to agree....

I am watching this post (as I bet a lot of others are) because I have intrest in purchasing one of the two in the next year or so if things work out.
How much does a Talon stick up above a typical outboard? It looks to me to be about 8-10 inches. If a bridge is within 6" of hitting my outboard I am not going under it (that is just me I don't want to take unnecessary chances tearing up my boat) so If I am thinking correctly the only bridges/cables I would have to take it off for are the ones 2-4" higher than what I would go under anyway and there is not one single place I fish that I can think of that it would be a problem. Having the option to quickly take it off if I did run into a problem is good enough for me.
I am anxious to see how the Talon will hold up and won't have to wait long. Many of you guys put more hours on a boat each year than I do in 10.

What's the difference in the Pro Series Power Pro vs. the Sportsman Series? I don't like the idea of hydraulic fluid and a pump but I'm more confident of it's reliability than I am of the electric Talon. PP is proven so far where Talon isn't but I'm sure they're both good units. I think if I was buying today it would be PP. I'd like to have one on my boat but I haven't quite found the need to justify the expense.

The Power Pole i personally think is the way to go reliable, quiet, andall the things on my boat that are ran with hydralic last alot longer than electrical parts. When the other is deployed in rough water mode you will be sucking power off your batteries all the time it's down. The hydralic system once it's down its down, yes the signature series only wieghs around 17pds each and with the little pumps and res. you ain't talking no wieght at all hardly and as much stuff as we put into these boats whats the difference mine is a Z21 LOADED ALL BOXES and i'm still running 70 if that ain't fast enough i don't know what is and get twm sportsmans it'll cost you as much as one signature series and wrap the pumps with something to make them a little quieter...

I have had several pms regarding the fluid..
I fill mine before every season and my set of Signature Series are deployed aprox. 10,000 times a year, between tournaments, guide trips and all the shows I work and have never run out in a season. Wouldn't common sense tell you if you keep having to refill it you have a leak? A hydraulic system is a closed system so you shouldn't have to add more fluid unless you have an issue.

I once had to add brake fluid in my car, but didnt detect a leak or ever see any fluid. What do you think could have possibly caused this? Isnt it also a closed system?

You know the brake fluid fairy's were stealing it when you wern't looking. Just because there isn't always visual signal doesn't mean its not leaking. On brakes, my best bet would be a caliper is leaking, and the heat that is made is burning off the fluid.

As brakes pads wear out the calipers expand out using fluid from the system thus leaving the level below the full line. That would be my guess.

Yeah, I read the specs, but whats the difference? Color, weight and 2 years of warranty? Whats the price difference? The Sportsmans are made from an anodized marine material the Pro and Signautre are made from a polycarbonate material and powdercoated. The pumps are different between all three, sporstman pumps are small and a quiet, the Pro Series is slightly smaller the Signature is smallest and wisper quiet. You also loose 5-7lbs on the Signature because of the perferation and is availible in a few nice colors.

Brant King, The Sportman Series retails for $895(6ft) and $995(8ft). The Pro Series retails for $1299(6ft) and $1449(8ft).
Fish Killer, I think what Cody is trying to say is the system is filled when installed at the beginning of the year and he doesnt need to add fluid all year. Cody can correct me if I am wrong. The Power-Pole system should NEVER need to be filled once installed and the fluid level is correct. The only time you should need to add fluid is if you experience a leak. Hope this helps.
