Maize is my go to bait, mainly because its the right price.

I've caught on the following flavors of maize:

Sugar and salt
Cherry
Vanilla
Strawberry
Chili
Spicy Strawberry
Banana

I like using the extra water from my maize in my method mix and put some of it in my method too.

PB Buff - 56lbs
PB Common - 26lbs
PB Mirror - 7lbs
PB Grasser - 45lbs
PB Koi - 10lbs

I think clam would attract too many catfish and turtles, but it just might work.

I have the most luck on Maize salted heavily with table and rock salt and sugared heavily(like turn the top of the bag white heavily) and also maize just salted heavily. I've done really good on tuity fruity maize(my PB float common came on tuity fruity maize) and pineapple maize(PB buff at Texoma) also. Vanilla works great for buffalo and also Rumvanana (rum, vanilla, and banana) has gotten me a few fish, mostly buffs but a few carp. Experiment and you'll find out a lot

Ted - anise is one of the best all round flavours you'll ever try. I've caught an awful lot of Carp with anise somewhere in the mix - bait. method etc. I have a plastic pill bottle with plastic baits steeped in anise extract - and a glass jar with maize steeped in anise oil (the oil melts plastic!!) It's caught fish for me - when nothing else worked - and I always have it with me. It also works year round.

Chris - Too much of anything will generally kill a swim grin
Used wisely (with subtlety) anise is thought of Worldwide as a great flavour.

Ted - I look forward to hearing your results!! I've had 'flirtations' with Garlic a few times --- and caught on it. My problem is - I hate the smell!! My best success was using Garlic Bread seasoning mix in a Panko based method/pack mix ---- they went crazy for it!! In warmer water - good quality Garlic Oil works well in plain (no other flavours) method/pack mixes.
Good luck thumb
