Went this AM and they were still biting. Caught my 5 in about 45 minutes and came home. I was disappointed in the size of the fish. Sure thought they would be a little bigger. It was still a good time!
Hey Rebel... Gut them to the throat, snap the head back and all of the skin will come off. Cook them with bones and all. The meat will come right off the bones. Grill or Fry them. I prefer the grill.

The skin is the best part...why throw it way? Unlike catfish, you can eat the skin on trout. Like others have said just gut'em from the anus upto the neck, cut off the head. Pull the head toward the anus and it will pull all the attached guts out. They just scrap out the inside with a teaspoon cut off the fins and rinse. Coat with what ever you like and fry up. Ummm Ummm Good!

Our group ended up with 34 in the freezer from this weekend. Caught most of mine on small rooster tails and blue fox spinner worked really slow as deep as you can keep it. We were catching fish at times while others around us weren't.
The best part was taking the kids yesterday evening. The kids outfished the grownups. It's awesome to see a four year-old running all around telling people she caught a trout!
The most disturbing thing is watching people throw them back or catch too many. I watched one guy on Saturday catch about fifty trout and toss them all behind his back on the bank. Kids were scrambling to pick them up. That's not the point of the trout stocking. You have to keep what you catch, no matter how small they are. Your limit is five. What's so hard to understand about that?
All in all, a great time for the family this weekend. This is my first time to do the trout stocking thing. I just wish they would stock some larger ones. Average was about 8", biggest about 10". All were a blast on ultralight, though!

Yea they were fairly small here at McKinney and Frisco also. I know i threw the smaller ones back for the little ones to catch cause i didnt wanna bag out on small fish. I know they encourage you to keep what you catch but its not required. Besides if they die then thats just food for the cats or Bass in the lake to get bigger... Yea i cleaned my exactly how was described, but i didnt take the skin off. So its ok to cook them with the skin on?

Its not illegal to catch and release. If you catch them with lures it is easy on the release from the lip. There will be more fish left for kids to catch if you dont go and catch fish in morning and then come back later in day and catch more. Now that is illegal. I have seen that this year.Good luck

I went back yesterday afternoon and caught a few more to help the girlfriend and her boy get their limit for the day. They had a great time. I finished off their limit right before we left at about 5:45. I caught three fish in about 3 minutes on Power Bait. It was crazy. I think I found a little school of them or something. Girlfriend got upset. She said I was stealing her fish. Yeah I was wondering about catch and release also, so I looked up some rules today. Apparently it is ILLEGAL to land a fish of any kind if you already have your limit for the day. So if you were catching crappie and already had your 25, it is time to stop fishing. I could not find the rule about keeping the first five though. I would like some clarification about this.

I was told by warden you can keep 4 on stringer and you catch and release until u get 5. This way you can keep a bigger size fish for your 5th one instead of a 5 inch trout.Just dont throw back a fish that was hooked deep.

Exactly. The power bait seems to get swallowed almost every time. Fishing with the rooster tails and super dupers would allow for a clean release in most cases.

Yea i had that same problem wiht the power bait also. They seemed to swallow the hook.
So what about if your fishing for recreation and not keeping what your catch? Is their any kind of limit. I thought the limit was just if you were keeping.

You can catch and release as much as you want is what I was told.Again, just dont throw back the deep hooked ones. The trout cant take alot of handling either.Cheers
