Top off the tank with fresh fuel and a bottle of Heet if you think that it is a moisture problem.

You need to purchase a marine fuel dryer. DO NOT USE HEET. I would just pump the rest of the fuel out and mop up what is left over in the tank back up. Of you aren't start adding Stabilizer. I use the blue marine and have not had any problems. If you keep the tank full moisture will have a harder time getting in the fule. The Heet is adding ethanol to the fuel so it will not fix the problem and may damage the motor.

Use Star-Tron as your additive for best results.

I use this combination everytime I fill up and have had zero problems (99 Merc 225 EFI) -1oz Marine Stabil or Mercury QuickCare per 6 gallons fuel -1oz Quickleen per 6 gallons fuel -1-2oz SeaFoam per 6 gallons fuel Another thing to look at is if your boat like mine and already has a fuel water separator filter on it, adding an additional water separator can restrict the fuel delivery and starve the engine from sufficient fuel supply and fuel pressure

Look in the water seperator filter housing, it should be clear. If you don't see water in it then you don't have a water problem. I would think maybe a spark issue. My boat has sat for a whole year with out being used with a half tank of gas. I had no problems. If you topped it off with new gas you would be fine. Believe me I' wasn't happy about letting my boat sit for a year.If your boat has a carb. on it then it could be sticking but fuel injected usualy doesn't give you a problem from sitting for less that a year. All that winterizing stuff they want to sell is

also check the hose from your tank to the eng. Make sure it is not colapsing and the primeing bulb is not sucking air.

Drain and check what you get out of the water separator. If it was full you know why your engine is bogging down.
If there is any appreciable amount in the separator you might drain the tank. It is only a gallon or so. Use a small 1/4 or 1/2 inch clear plastic tube and drain what you can out of the tank.

Is it carbed, EFI or DFI? What brand and year and horsepower? Don't just shove fuel additives in it, you cannot get a mechanic out of a can. Let's get some more information 1st.

Pour the contents in to a glass jar and let it set for 5 to 10 min. After setting in will separate. You will see the water and the gas.

On my Mariner there is a little back box on the lower left hans side on the front with an led. It will alarm and loose power, when that happens it will flash the led. Do you have a wire that go's to the bottom of the filter?

no i dont the only alarm the my boat has is when i am low on oil
i need to get the boat running again that way the water seperator will fill again then i will empty that out and put it in a clear glass to see what happens
i will connect it tdy and run it with my hose for about 15 mins let it sit over night then will empty the fuel to check if it gives that milky look
i think it is moisture that builds on there i have a habbit of not refueling after leaving the lake and most of the time its low until i make a run to the lake again and usually when i fill up
once again thanks guys for all ur answer

It will not be milky. You will see the water on the bottom. Set the jar where you don't have to move it when you check it.
