fished bethany lakes in allen for a good 4 hours today. tpwd stocked about 3,400 rainbows in pond c yesterday (friday).

i threw different colors/patterns of bang tails, then switched to the fly rod & threw clousers, nymphs, & wooly buggers to no avail.

the place was packed with folks, but only saw one guy catching anything. he used berkley powerbait on a small hook rigged with a bobber...maybe 12" - 16" deep. nothing of any size...around 8".

pond c is closest to bethany rd. & the trout were biting on the southeast corner.

i think i'll save trout fishing for my next wyoming trip & stick to those fat, texas bass in the meantime! rolfmao

We have a stocking here on Tuesday, thinking about going in the evening and trying some corn. I went by today though and the canadians were walking around on the ice, guess if it is still frozen the trout oughta be easy to pick up.

I was there today for a couple of hours and saw at least 12 pulled out (NONE BY ME, THOUGH). All were on float rigs with cheese balls or bread.

First live trout I have seen in 25 years(just got back into fishing 6 months ago) and my son's first time to ever see a live trout...pretty cool!

hey onebigfish. when they stock mckinney go out there. it is a small area they stock in with lots of trout. Corn will catch u some for sure. super duper lures will also get em. allen is good with bread dough like u said from pier. at least last year it was.

horns - yeah, I spoke to the TPWD folks and they gave me the low-down.

My vision of "the lagoon" at Towne Lake (McKinney) at stocking equates to an almost dry watering hole in the savannah of Africa, with fish flopping around half in and half out of the water/mud.

Such a small area and so many fish (2,348)...it will be interesting - AND FUN!

Stocking(and trout fishing contest) happens on 02/05/2006 in McKinney.

I fished Allen on Saturday for about an hour and landed 2. One was about 9" the other was 11". The kids were getting cold so mama made us leave...

I've caught a bunch of trout on the colored mini marshmellows before . Fishing it kinda like a carolina rig but the marshmellows float so it gets it off the bottom . Or you can do it like a drop shot rig and be able to feel the bites better

When I lived in Utah, one of our favorite trout rigs was a live Nightcrawler, with hook tipped with a yellow mini marshmellow. Usually we'd fish it just off the bottom, or on a slip bobber, depending on where the fish were, and how they were feeding.
