Hey texas_82, I would say hwy 59 bridge. By reading several post on this forum it seems that most of the fish are still closer to hwy 59. I would try trolling with 1/4oz Rattle Traps. (chrome/blue or black back) 1/8 oz. Roadrunners curly tail white/red head,chartreuse/chartreuse head & black curly tail/chartreuse head & of course Rapala Shad Rap SR05 in shad pattern. Good luck. Man I was thinking about making my first trip of the season up there soon, but with these temps below freezing at night, I think I'll give it another two weeks.

Well guys....it was alot of fun!!! I found another guy to go fishing with, he even paid for the gas! We caught about 30-40 white bass in about 2.5 hours. We only kept 15 to eat for the both of us and let the rest go. We caught them using crawfish pattern rattle traps and crankbaits. We did not have any luck trolling, we caught all of them casting twords the banks. They did not want anything small, they only wanted those bigger baits. The water temperature was 55 when we started and 60 when we left. If the white bass run is going to get better than the day we had, like yall are talking about, it will be nuts. We used the 59 bridge and went twords the lake. Lots of fun and I cant wait to go again.

Great !!!!! Glad you got to catch some. Yes, They will hit the bigger baits but will quickly switch to eating the small river minnows,as they move up, thus hitting our small jigs.
I rig a Double jig (like a speck rig) and catch 2 at a time when they get hot. When you have one hit the first jig don't rip him in--- Let him fight which will trigger another one to hit the 2nd bait--- Lot's of fun !

are the fish still bitting ? i ride a 21 ft bay boat is this boat to big for the river? never been , would like to get down there and try fishing for some whites.

redfishsa I have a 19'2" bay boat and as long as the water level is normal I have no problem putting in at the 59 bridge. Did good last monday Plan on going tomorrow or tuesday should still be good
