Yea its a nice little hole like i said. They do have a very nice little pier. Now if you fish on that walk way going onto the pier right behind those benches on the pier, pretty much underneath that walkway, you should have really good luck with crappie. Its where i also got mine. What i like about the pier is you can set your tackle box on the benches and havae it right there within working distance, or just to sit and relax. Oh yea on the pier on the left is a good spot for crappie also. Also not to mention close parking so you dont have to lug gear that far to the pier.

Oh really? I didnt here about that. Wonder why they did that. If thats the case the fishing might not be as good as it use to be then. Since according to TPWD the last time it was stocked was in 2003 with Blue Cat and Bluegill, and 2004 with 340 Largemouth Bass. Did they completely drain it or just let drain some water out for unpkeeping reasons. I just couldn't see them completely draning that lake. It had some nice fish in it.

Ok i just did some research on it. They DID NOT completely drain it. After looking up some past city council meetings agendas on Palos Verdes the upgrades they did was rebuild the fishing pier, build a erosion wall, dredge the lake, and put a new water fountain in. So they let some water out of it in order to make the upgrades needed. So all the fish that were stocked in there prior to the upgrades are still there.

So to answer your question yes thier are TONS of Bluegill and Cats in there. Thats mostly what i went out there to catach was cats. Caught them on chicken livers out in the middle off the bottom. I would catch them left and right.

I guess i need to make a trip out there soon and see the new upgrades they did to my little park. Let me know when you go out there. I might swing out there as well.

Hey, rebel, dont waste your time on PV. I live nearby. There was a big news story done on the whole "draining" of that small lake. "They" miscalculated the water's depth, because there was way more sediment than they thought. So when they drained it down to what they thought would be far enough to do the work but yet keep the fish alive, it wasent. All of the fish died! There was nothing but a small puddle in the center left. Very sad. I heard they have restocked, so it will be awhile....

Oh no, thats kinda sad, it was good little fishing hole for me where i grew up. It's bascily where i learned to fish and spent endless hrs a weekend there fishing.

How long ago did this happen? I guess thier might not be the crappie in there like it used to be then. Sorry for the misleading info crappie daddy. I wasnt aware of all this and that it got that bad. I guess i still have my memorys of the good ol times fishing it....LoL

Their are trees sticking out of the water? Thats kinda cool if so. It's been about 10 yrs since i've been there. I go to Mesquite all the time to visit family. I guess im going to need to swing by and see what they did.

A good way to get the cats big and its what i did when i use to fish it is me and my friends would buy the BIG bags of dog food and like once a month chum it with that dog food. They got to a pretty decent size for a city pond in about 2 yrs or so.

I did a little searching and found this news story about the rebuilding of the lake and the stocking of it:

Good story. I cant believe it was in the Mesquite news and my grandmother missed that. She reads every page of the paper everyday and never saw it. Otherwise i would have known about it. Its real sad all the fish died that were in there. Im glad they made it a better place to be though. I will be going by there today. Might not fish but i wanna see the new park.

According to TPWD they have stocked it with Bass also that the story didnt mention. They must have done that sometimes afterwards.

Ok i went out there today and checked out the upgrades they did. I have to say i like the little wall they put around the bank. Also the water looks a lot cleaner. I did notice thier is a concrete ledge thats about 3 feet wide that runs around the whole lake up next to that wall. I saw the tress they planted in the lake. Thats going to be real nice when they bloom. The pier they rebuilt is just like the old one except it is smaller than they old one and it doesnt go out as far as the old one. Plus the rails are alot higher than the old one. I just hope they come out and power wash it when the temps get warmer and people start fishing it. It was covered in duck ****. My Aunt said they did all this like 2 yrs ago so the fish that are in it should be fairly good size by now. Atleast a pound or two. Overall i would have to say i like what they did to it. I just hope the fishing is as good as it use to be. It brough back some old memorys going out there today. Im looking forward to fishing it again one day. I just wonder how deep it is now. Didnt seem but 3 feet from deep from the bank to about 10-15 feet out. Hopefully its deeper in other areas and out in the middle.
