I was planning on fishing over there Friday and / or Saturday. I've been out there 5 times over the past week and haven't seen a sign of any carp. Just FYI.

Zack - Bring your distance casting stuff if you plan on fishing the area near the parking lot. And bring some spods and stuff to chum with way out there.

Maybe I'll see you out there for a little bit, what time are you planning on going?

All the carp I've heard about in that lake are on the far side, but I've heard from two seperate people that there are in fact "huge" carp in there. They both saw them up near the shore on the far side. One guy walked all the way around, the other had a small bass buster type boat.

Good luck!

Hey Guys,

Wish I could join ya. What was the trend where you had the map on it? I had visually confirmed a carp in the 30lbs range looking and the 20lbs you guys posted in the pic section. I also know a place on the NE side of Lewisville lake Little Elm area where I used to see huge carp spawn I mean just rippin up the banks sounding like 10 ton bass. To get to the back side you'll have to go to the next road south of highland village road. turn right at the first road on the right, go down and turn right, one block, park is on your right, go down to the cove and cross it, then you can go through the back, some one has cut the grass back there.

Talked to a guy a while back that was putting in a little boat. He said it is really shallow, no more than 3 feet for about 20 - 30 feet from the bank but after that it drops sharply to a max depth of 30 some odd feet.

Blake (a TFFer) I talked to last night said it's about a foot depth for about 40 feet out in the corner by Highland and I35, where the park is. That's an excellent place to launch a fishing kayak, but I don't think it would be easy to launch a bassbuster there. There's no boat ramp anyway, and I doubt the cops would like to see you driving on the grass. I hope to have my SOT (sit-on-top) fishing kayak soon, and that will open up that whole pond for me. Yay!

Zack - Now you see why I told you you'd need your distance casting gear! I think if you can get both chum and bait out there a ways, and I know you can, that pond would be very good for carp. I think it will be one of those "Wait a really long time for a really big fish" type ponds.

Did you try walking up the road? ( Highland shores road, not the frontage road ). There is some access to deeper water along there, including a spot with two large culverts, but not a whole lot of room to set up your gear.

Without a boat to take you to the other side, you might be best distance-casting out to the deep water.

The place my dad and I saw the huge carp I mentioned was near those little sticks and things in the water down the shore to the right a little ways from the parking area.

As for boats, if you can carry it down to the shore, you can put it in. I saw two guys carrying a small bass buster type boat and putting it in, then later, two guys "assembling" one on shore, lol.

sounds like my kind of place!

I am not sure now that I will make it out there saturday...I will need to do a little planning before I tackle that water I need to take a trip out there with my plum rod and just get a read on depths and and bottom type probably pre-bait it for a week before fishing it with a mixture of high protien range cubes and maize and may be 100 or so boilies see if I can't get them clued in on those

Sounds like a plan. I think it might require something like that if you want to do some serious carp fishing from that bank area. Are you going to go out and plum it tomorrow, or just write that off for another day. I'd be interested in seeing how that's done.

Probably take a lot of preparation like you said to try and get some of those big fish from the far side of the lake over to the bank. It actually goes on a long ways beyond what you can see from that bank, you can see it on satellite images, it gets more and more narrow but snakes on back for a long ways, and supposedly that's where the carp are.

You never know, going out there and fishing near the culverts or down the bank a bit with some corn for chum, and you might get lucky and hook the one big carp who'd strayed to the other side lol.

if there are carp on the other side there are carp on this side as well....have you seen all the musscels that are in the sand there carp love those things I would bet that in the moring they would be farly easy to catch if you fished under those tree on the east side of the bank sticks and old leaves attract snails wich in turn brings the carp in those reeds over on the right hand side would also bring snails plus the sandy bottom near the shore would hold mussels....I am pretty excited about the water really

I can tell. I keep meaning to go fish that pond for carp real early in the morning while the fish are still up in the shallows, but I just haven't gotten around to it.

When you say the trees on the east side, you mean that area near the big telephone pole or whatever it is? Think that looks good? I'd be afraid they'd get me snagged up there, though.

The right side is closer the area I was thinking about fishing. If you follow the bank that way, I was thinking of baiting out the area right where the first break in the trees is ,that first little bank access where that's some sand and stuff.

I haven't seen the mussels in the sand but I didn't really pay a whole lot of attention. Last time DH and I were there there was too much moss in the water to see anything. That was like, a week or two ago, so maybe the water level has dropped enough to reveal the mussels you saw.

Let me know when you're heading out there if you want, and I'll meet you there if I can. I'd be interested in seeing what sort of depth your plumming discovers and how you'd approach fishing a water like that.

I will let you know for sure....yeah the area near the telephone pole...the long rods will come in handy here because I will cast about 30-40 yards down the bank and about 5-10 feet out from the shore as far as getting snagged when a fish gets hooked in close like that the rarely ever follow the bank they will jet straite for deep water should take you away from the snag

Yeah, that's a good point. If it's mostly big carp in there they'll likely shoot right back out to open water. You'll have to bring a camera incase you get any nice carp out of there.

I can just see the look on the face of the guy with the boat who told me he "shoots carp cause they eat the bass eggs."

"What'd you got those long poles for?"

"I'm carp fishing."

".......You're WHAT??? ...Well..whatever...all the carp I've seen on way at the back when I'm in this boat..."

"That's ok...I can cast that far." ZIIIIIIIINNNNNNGGGG!!

"...Holy!!!!"
