I was at Wal Mart the other night and nearly flipped when I saw a Flambeau Backpack. It's designed for fishing and includes a couple of small tackleboxettes inside. I was looking for an alternative to carrying all of my Carp **** down the rocks to the bridge at Joe Pool, and this looked to be the solution. I've fished with it once and it did not get in the way (despite fishing in my ski jacket).
Something for Bankfishers to consider.

Did you see the little fanny pack for 8 or 9 bucks with the FLW logo on it. Pretty cool!

I use a fanny pack with a couple small tackle box's inside. I got tired of lugging my big tackle box to my favorite remote spots. You would be surpised how much you can carry in a small bag if you are creative.

If you guys want the ultimate pack for bank fishing, you should really check out some fly shops. They have some absolutely fantastic packs. Here's the one I have. http://www.frontrangeanglers.com/shop/proddetail.php?prod=wj2004creel&cat=79 It's made by William & Joseph. It has a front pouch with a styrofoam insert for hooking flies or jigs in my case. Plus, the pouch is big enough to hold two small Plano boxes that I keep all of the plastic bodies (bubble bellies, tubes, etc.) that I want to carry. Then, in the front pouch, where fly fishers would put spools of leader line, I put my cell phone. It also has a place for a hydration (water) bag that you can put in on the back side. This has a tube that leads to the front that you get your drink on from. Another larger pouch on the bag to carry my GPS and a couple of snacks. It also has some loops on the back so that you could put in a tube type rod holder. I haven't done this yet, but I've considered getting a small tube rod holder to take my 4'6" WM rod with me while I carry my 9 footer. It costs about $85.00. Well worth it. Nothing to carry with you except for your main fishing rod. No bulky tackle bag. For the most part you have both hands free to catch yourself from falling down bank sides. Plus, you're "tackle bag" won't take a drink in the drink unless you take a drink. And it's pretty comfortable on long walks. Get one. You won't be disappointed.

I have a Wal Mart fanny pack that has both suspenders and a waist belt. Room for a couple of small boxes but more importantly, room for a soft drink, bottle of water, a sandwich or two, chips, cookies, peanut butter crackers, jerky and a few Snickers. I can't figure out why I can't seem to lose any weight, I walk constantly.

All I have used for the last couple of years is a backpack. I buy the cheap single layer tackle boxes and I can fit around 3-four of those in my bag. It sure makes it alot easier and you can organize your boxes for different types of fishing that way you just grab the ones you need and get going.

I have found that when I take a bunch of different tackle with me, I spend too much time re-tying. When I fish creeks, it is usually for only 2 species; sandies and crappie. I found a small 6"x4" box that holds enough jigs, rooster tails, and road runners to keep me from running out. I keep my stringer, drink, food, and bug spray in a small fanny pack, and my pliers are clipped to my belt. I do need to look into that pack that Earnest uses, though. I like the suspender idea...

A backpack is the way to go for me. I use a good ol' Eastpack left over from my school days. The 'tackle box' i carry is a dollar store toolbox, which fits nicely in there along with a towel 'cause I'm always getting wet or muddy. In the smaller pockets, I carry pliers, tape, scale, spare line, camera, etc. It works perfect for me. I can always keep track of where my stuff is and it's much easier when crawling through brush and jumping puddles around creeks and river bottoms. Great place to stuff trash and line clippings, too.

Ever try a fishing vest? I have one I have used for years. Tons of pockets and comfortable. I even use it when white bass fishing as it keeps all of my stuff close at hand and I know exactly which pocket to go to for whatever I need.

5 gallon bucket works for me unless I am wading. I like a hunting vest while wading, lots of pockets and a place to put your shirt when it gets warm.

Those fishing vest are great. I need to dig mine out of wherever I put it up last. I often like to carry a bucket too. Like rickt300 says. especially if I'm fishing where it's muddy or it's a little rainy. Then I keep the lid on and the contents stay dry. I always use a bucket when fishing down at the coast. My favorite being one of those kind you get containing pool supplies and such with the tight locking lid. Plus you always have a place to sit when you carry it.
