 The difference between the older 798ci HD SI Combo and the 2011 unit??

Does anyone know the difference between these units?
From what I can gather the older unit is not HD and only has SI and not DI, nor is it ethernet compatible. Is this correct??

you are correct in that it is not ethernet, it does have DI with a download and i am not sure what the new HD is so i cant say anything on that

The 2011 model has the better preloaded contour lake maps.
Screen res is the same.
Are the transducers the same though?
Keep your hooks sharp.

My 798ci SI that I bought in Nov 2009 has the Contour XD mapping.
My 1198c SI has Contour XD mapping.
Yes, the transducers are the same since the SI frequency is the same single 455 khz.

im pretty sure that the 798 does not have the "HD high definition" side imaging transducer. the 798 comes with transducer Model: XNT-9-SI-180-T and the 898, 998 and 1198 come with the tranducer Model: XHS-9-HDSI-180-T. you will get a better picture with the 898, 998, and 1198 due to the better transducer, all units comes with side imaging and down imaging, transducers are different from the 798 and the 898/998/1198
