I have fished Palistine several times but I am not REAL familiar with it. What is the prodominate catfish out there Blues or channels? or what is it known more for?

It has a good population of both. You'll catch a lot of small channel cats when targeting them. Plenty of eating size blues and the lake has good trophy potential as well. I fished it quite a bit when my wife (fiance then) was going to school in Tyler.

Bobby, what areas did you fish the most? I've been out the past 2 weeks looking for bigger blues. I've drifted over points, river channels and have had little luck. Marked plenty of fish, but not catching. I would appreciate any information you could share.

A lot of the old timers out there talk about fishing the deep holes in the winter time for the big blues. There are some really deep holes in front of the spillway and also on the other end of the dam. In the next few weeks some of the big ones will start showing up in really shallow water like 3-5 feet in some of the inlets like chimney creek and the inlet north of the small bridge on 346 near emerald bay, use fresh cut shad or fresh cut buffalo. Good luck!
