Ive been checking the weather for Jersey and I's 4 day trip to falcon. It looks like its getting worse and worse wind wise. A couple questions.. what do you think the chances are of us having decent weather? How acurate do you think an 8 day forecast is and what would be your limit that would keep you from driving 9 hours to go fishing on that lake. Also I have been a couple of times so I understand it is possible to get out of the wind.

As you know those weather guys are at best 50% accurate. I always make the final decision the night before and sometimes they are still wrong. What other lake in Texas is fishing as good as Falcon right now? So go and wack em!

I have been watching the long range forecast too. We are headed down for the 1st trip of the year on the 24th and will stay 5 to 12 days. As much trouble as they have forecasting tomorrow's weather accurately, I am a bit dubious of their 10 day stuff. Nonetheless, I check it twice a day. I'll be back down to Falcon for the full moon in March and will stay 2 week to a month, depending on the fishing and weather...Do they have a 60 day forecast???

I would just plan on it sucking and be surprised if it doesn't. If it isn't 100 degrees, the wind will probably blow.

Not to be a pessimist but watch the wind on Falcon as the date gets closer. If someone passes gas on the north end of the lake, there will be a four footer at the dam.

That is a VERY rough lake with a north wind.......

You can get out of the wind but getting there can be dangerous unless you put at the Tigers ramp (have to drive on a gravel road for a few miles).

take the two wind speeds they give u, like 10-15, add them together, and that is about what u get.

I have often wished I could be a Weatherman for a living. I mean....how many jobs can you have where you screw up about 50% of what you do and don't get fired ????

Load up and go....the percentages of what you will get from a trip like that to Falcon far outweigh a little wind.

I think you might get an idea of major fronts within 24 hours that far out but that's about it. 3 days starts getting pretty reliable.

If you are down here with a north wind you might try launching at Beacon and shooting strait across to Salado or go up the river.

I just got down a few minutes ago -- Oso is as crowded as I've seen it in months!
