hy guys, i signed up here a while ago but never get a chance to be on it. first off im 15 and fish and hunt. i usually fish private ponds and lake lewisville for catfish but they seem to be not productive that much any more. anyways to the question. first off, the size of the fish really doesnt matter to me i just want to have a fun time, but big fish are always a plus. i went to robertson park today and used goldfish, minnows, and goat cheese punch bait. thing is i got zero bites in about 1 1/2 hours. i was wondering if some one could point me in the right direction as of were to go on the lake, what to use, setups, and etc. also some time around the 22nd me and my family friend are borrowing a boat and will be able to fish from it so if so what would you recommend to use while on a boat? thank you in advance for all that reply.

I went to rowlett road right across the street from the marina del ray. I parked in a little dirt parking lot, and walked down toward the bridge. I fished the main lake side looking toward I-30. I only fished about 45 minutes there and caught 10, of which 5 were keepers. With all the murky water i'm supprised they found my bait. Next time i will take some soured maze from fisherman's supply. I used ray's pure chicken blood, on a #6 trebble hook, a small pinch weight, and a pencil bobber set at about 4 foot. Just remember, just as you start to look away your bobber will go under. Just throw out about 10 of 15 feet from the bank and let it drift back.

At robertson Saturday, we only caught them in the morning started about 7:30 and they stopped about 10:00. We were using chicken liver and had out several lines so they came in. They wouldn't leave the liver alone. we were just about opposite from the gate out on the tip of the point and wind was right at us. We fished on the bottom only about 30ft out from the rocks. They were small and some 12-14 inches, but not big ones.

Try your punch bait under a cork, fish about 3-4 feet deep, and fish around the rocks. I like to cast it out and let it drift back in with the wind coming to me. My punch bait choice is Danny King. Put a small split shot about 4 inches above the treble hook to keep the bait down. Last 3 trips on Hubbard I have caught 40 plus each time. Released em all. I also use a slip cork, makes it much easier to cast from the bank.

Find you a bank where the wind is blowing you in the face, and if you have a cast net try to catch some shad, if not Danny Kings punch bait is very good. They sell it at Branch grocery, not too far from Brockdale park which would be a good place to fish off the bank. Oh yea, and by the way, we're glad to have ya, laugh laugh . Good luck, Sharon

I was doing well the other morning using some fresh shrimp I bought at Walmart. They were head off and deveined, but fresh like the fresh dead you would buy down at the coast to fish with, instead of the frozen ones. Not sure how many there was but probably more more than 1 person would need for one pretty good trip. Price...about 3.50. Not too bad at all.

Using the DK I have been averaging about 30% keeper size, with the biggest about 3 lbs.
