I normally throw a 1/0 straight shank for trick worms and a 3/0 or 4/0 for thicker worms like senkos

Tru-Tungsten flea flicker or some sort of head like that. It's all I use.

All pictures and diagrams Ive seen of wacky-rigged senkos often have circle hooks (never any straight shanks, wide gaps, nor offset hooks).
Ive been wondering what are the benefits of using 'circle' hooks for wacky-rigging?
Can anyone explain?

I like an octopus style hook. Just seem to get a better hook up ratio than most other hooks ive tried.

Can anyone explain? A lot of time, they will suck it in and just start swimming off with it. A circle hook won't gut hook the fish and all it has to do is pull tight and the hook will sink into the corner of its mouth. I use circle hooks a bunch in saltwater for Tarpon, sailfish, marlin, etc. They are great hooks and I'm sure they will set nicely with a wacky worm. Best part, is when they are set, they rarely come unbuttoned no matter how hard they fish fight. DON'T SET THE HOOK!!! If you do, you will just pull the hook out of its mouth, you just come tight by reeling.
