Looks like Fayette is currently getting some rain? I hope its enough to lift the current campfire ban. No fun camping there in the cold when you cannot have a fire to keep you warm at night. Hope the LCRA is watching..........

Probably not, it should have been lifted 3 weeks ago. They caught 2"+ Christmas eve and plenty of rain since

I don't think the ban is up to the LCRA. Most all of the state has been on ban for sometime. Noticed Liberty Co. just lifted theirs this week. I am for burning some fires there at night myself.

Burn bans are usually ordered by the county commissioners and they will have to be satisfied the entire county is wet enough to lift the ban. Unless they call a special meeting, it will be sometime next month before they meet.

I do think you can still make a fire using charcoal or brickets, just not wood. Not the same but still gives you some warmth

May give the LCRA a call Monday and see what the deal is....

LaGrange has had 1.46" of rain since Jan 1, not counting yesterday and today.

wonder if cooking a fat ol steak in a open webber grill... with only mesquite wood is pushing it...lol

The sign they have up states no ground fires, charcoal only. Give them a call, the staff is very helpful.

You can build a wood fire in the metal grill that is at each campsite, as long as you keep it small. We did that last time we went to Bastrop, and they didn't give us too much trouble about it.

Just got off the phone with gate attendant, He said small open fires were permissible now that the BURN BAN has been lifted
