I have two of the little WM Mitchell Avocet reels one is on a 7' St Croix and the other on a 10'B&M. I have 6lb braid on them and them seem to work really well.

I got 4 of the WM-1000 spinning reels and they work great for the price! I don't need a fancy reel, and I bought them on clearance from BPS! If the still have them at the Grapevine store, I'll probably pick a couple more!

I have one of the smaller ones but don't like it as well as the larger size.

I did a bit of research on the reel linked above, and read there is an issue with small diameter line getting between the spool and side of the reel.

thanks for the links.

I have not had that problem with the line myself.

Ooops. Took a look at them and saw they are round bait casters. My avocetz are spinning reels. I do have two other bass pro branded casting reels and with those if you get near the recommended line weight they will eat line due to poor tolerances. I know nothing about these though. They are cheap enough.

I have a couple and you really do have to be careful or the line will slip between the reel and the spool. A real pain in the boat to get out too. I put up with it cause they are so light and cool looking- like a mini ambassader 5000.

Don't care for mine. His rods are good but the reels I have are not.
