I have been stuck in the office, it seems like since winter. This weekend however it seems I am going to get to see the light of day again. A friend and I are headed up to Lake Texoma to try our luck at the whisker fish. I haven't seen much on here about Texoma lately. Could some one help us out and let us know an area that we might get into some action and what they are biting on. I would hate to waste one of my rare days away from the office just sitting there waiting on something to bite and not catching any fish. Any help would be graetly appreciated.

We are still catching Channels in the rocks. Most have spawned...some have not. Spinning rod, 10 lb test, tiny cork, 3 ft leader, shad or shrimp for bait works good. Most of the ones we caught yesterday had crawfish in'em. You can catch them at night with this same method. Just use a 1 1/2" glow stick pushed into your cork for a stopper. Fish rocky points at night.
I don't know about Blue cats, we just like Channels.

My buddy has been catching them around Platter, in the flats, on shrimp. I'm sure some Danny King's would work too.

It is north of the dam in Oklahoma. You will see Platter on the far right side of the map. Buy a topographical map of Texoma.

RTW, Platter Flats is the large flats due east of Washita Point, on the east side of the Washita River bed, south of Rock Creek, and north of the old Willafa Woods boat ramp. Does this help??

MikeC, Can you tell us some general info about what the cats are doing on Texoma like you did once before?? This thread is about the trip we just got back from in my boat but we didn't do too well. We spent $100 on black saltys and goldfish and stayed out all night just to catch a few fish. We fished the small coves on the main lake between Highport and Cedar Mills in 10' of water. We used sour maze, lights, etc. and came up very short considering. We will be going quite often now that my boat is mobile and we have the right gear but I sure hate to repeat what we did last weekend. I need to learn some kind of pattern for Texoma as fast as possible so if you or anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it!! We're after that world record....not the small ones, if that makes a difference. I don't want a specific location....just type of water and times of year to be there.
Thanks in advance for any help!!

If you are after the big boys I would fish in the Big Mineral Arm of the lake down by Gordonville. Ever since I was a lil fart me and my dad have ran jugs down in that arm of the lake and always have gotten some nice fish. Think this is actually the same arm of the lake that the 121 pounder came from could be wrong. It you look at a map of the lake you will see a island called Gose Island just south of that Island is another Island don't know that it has a name. There is a sand bar that runs off the west point of that island we always do pretty good just about 50 yards north of the sand bar. Also along the west side of the shore some where in the area theres a shallow hump if im right normaly it will come from 20ft up to 15 on the top of the hump all around the sides of the hump we have done real well. Then just south of Big Mineral Camp and Flowing Wells is Brushy Creek pretty good area also just lots of snags. The channel cats really stack up in there when the spawn gets going.
