What kind of hook or other devise is good for retrieving the juglines? Can't do it by hand from a pontoon deck. I'm making do with the pole and hook that used to hold up my bird feeder. It halfway works with just a little (*&(%(* ing. But its too heavy and cumbersom (its also used as a boat hook) fish

grandpa75672, this is a telescopic , floating, boat hook from Walmart, under $20.00. Academy has them also. There are boat hooks that have a metal hook,if kids are going to be using it, the plastic hook is recomended.

I went the cheap way and bought a rake handle and screwed in one of those hooks that you hang a bike from the ceiling with. Works pretty good. laugh

Get you a long broom handle and drill and screw an eye bolt into it. Open the eye just a tad and the line will go in and the jug wont go thru. Been using one for years.

the open eyebolt gets my vote for the simple reason that the jug wont slip through. Again my thanks for all the answers.Pretty soon I will have all the secrets then maybe I will catch more than 2 or 3 keepers when I go out.

I use threaded stock, bent into an open circle, keeps the line from slipping off the hook

I use the biggest landing net I could buy at Academy, comes in handy for landing big ones too. The light foam noodles doo pull out of it though sometimes. The boat hook is a good idea too.
