Got this wise idea this year I was gonna clean and service my own reels. Since I pretty much use all Zillions I made a copy of the schematic for it and enlarged it then took it to Office Depot and had it laminated for reference. I then assembled all the supplies and laid out all my reels. Really not too hard at all just kinda time consuming and tedious. I started a few days ago and did a few each day. Just completed the last one. Sure makes a huge difference and they feel brand new again. I now understand though why some guys will spend $10-20 per reel for this. One positive thing is I also can now take one apart and put it back together from memory without any extra parts left over. It all went well till I had a spring pop out of the last reel and I had to spend 15 minutes looking for it in the carpet. Luckily I found it but I was stressing for a few. Glad to be done till next season. Got a few more tackle organization things to do and I am officially ready for the 2011 tournament season.

I've been doing it myself this week. And I agree all of them feel and cast like they are right out of the box.

Very good idea to have the schematics laminated. I would be scared to take apart a real that expensive. What are you going to do with the money you saved? 401K? LOL . I need to finish doing mine.

Years ago when I started trying to repair and maintain my own reels I carried more than a few to the shop to get them reassembled correctly. Found a repair shop that let me hang around and finally learned to do it myself.

It was a little better than a stick in the eye and maybe not as bad as a kick to the groin.
