Just wondering what the best catfish bait is... We always kill them with liver...

My preference is fresh shad.
This question comes up pretty often and if you go to the top of the page and click on search, and type in "best catfish bait" you will get enough reading to keep you busy for a couple hours at least.
You will find that everyone has their favorite, so it's a matter of trying what works best for you under the conditions and water you intend to fish.

If I had a bait that I, "always kill them with", my question would be.....Why would I want to start this, my Chevy is better than your Ford thread? If you can kill them with livers, I would stick with livers. I personally wouldn't even go fishing if livers is all I had to fish with. But, that's just my stock Ford position.

I agree. Its what you have confidence in and use most often. I use shad, punchbait and buffalo. Although I have used worms, hot dogs, bacon and some other oddities before.

dough bait is the best bait.Thats what I caught this on . I was using my own secret homemade recipe.You can catch carp,catfish and small mouth buffalo

For channels I like punch bait
For blues I like big threadfin shad (big threadfins are hard to come by)

Danny King Punch Bait ( blood) .. Has won me Money and Titles . Best if used in all types of waters and temp. This bait will catch some big blues or even them pesky channels....

I agree with the old chicken liver, they always seem to get a bite. I was just out 2 days ago, had 1pole with liver and 1 with blood bait, NEVER got so much as a nibble on the blood bait, but tore 'em up with the livers.
You guys know everything..... I'm just an idiot....no problem........

I have good luck with shad,DK's punch bait,and
cut carp.Chicken liver works for many but I don't seem to be able to feel the bite when I try using it.

I've had the best luck with Sure Shot. I've caught so many more cats once I started using it. I haven't tried DK's yet. Maybe I'll give it a try sometime.
