Fished the guad. river all night sunday night and came away with a good mess of cats.
All fish were caught on limblines with soap and the yellas with perch.

Good catch, the Redneck's soap strikes again. This has got to be the easiest bait to use and so clean too.

I've been wanting to do some fishing the guadalupe because its pretty close for me, i usually put in underneath I-10 going into seguin. is there a better place to launch? there are usually a lotta pleasure boaters where i launch.

River catfishin is one of the purest forms. It goes back to the oldest days of fishing when reserviors where far and few between. Many a young country boy learned to fish pulling in cats from a typical Texas river, most of the time using the bait that was redily available on a moments notice. Limb lines trotlines and a cane pole were what it was about.
There is an attraction to fishing in the solitude of a lazy river with all the wildlife and gators and snakes, and gar, it just doesn't get any better than that!

Great catch guys! I caught some channels the other night with redneck's soap on a rod and reel. Worked pretty darn good.

There is. the lake you speak of is called Lake placid. I fish heading off of the old luling-seguin hwy heading towards Belmont texas. It's about 10 mintues or so from where you talk of.
However there is no ramp which means no pleasure boaters or usually any boaters for that matter.
You'll see the ocassional ol boy doing the same thing you are but that's once in a fair moon.
The road is called Fm 1117. I usually fish down river but have been told up river is just as good.
I'm looking to try the San marcos river this weekend maybe. The guad. River flow levels are getting ridiculous and there will be alot of draggin across sand bars soon.
