I was finally able to make it out for my 1st shallow cat trip of the year....and faired pretty well. Had 25 keepers in about 2.5 hours and managed to cull another 10 fish for another 45 minutes or so....all on DK's on slip-bobber set at 2 foot or less.

Not much size off this I30 spot, as usual, but some pushed the 18" range.

Over half were spawned out, with the rest ready to burst any day.

Fishin' oughta be good in shallow for several more weeks!!

We fished Saturday morning (also off I-30 bridge) with similar results. Biggest ones were around 19" or 20" - but only 3 or 4 of those. Ended the morning with 54 cats, 1 little bluegill (not sure how he ever got the hook in his mouth) and 2 big drum. They were fun to catch as both were over 21" and fought like the dickens!

Most fish caught on DK's, slip bobber at about 3 ft. Better ones were caught with cut shad using same technique. Fish seemed to shut off around 10:30 or 11:00. I agree - should be good for several more weeks!!

When they had done as He said, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. Luke 5:7

Must be nice to have a boat, because from the bank fishing was horrible. I fished just about every bank at Hubbard from 66 to the other side if Heath with baits from DK, Shad, Shrimp, Liver, Kitchen Shink. I fished it shallow under a bobber, I fished it off the bottom deep. 14 hrs of fishing yesterday and all I caught was a sun burn and a cold. You know it's a bad day when you catch a cold in the summer. I have never had this much trouble fishing for cats. Wasn't me though because no one around me was catching anything etheir. I have a wireless fishfinder and it wasn't showing them holding at any spot I fished but decided to try them anyways.

I found a REALLY good peice of Rip-Rap off Miller Rd between Dalrock & Rowlett and was hopeful but still got slunked.

So any good bank fishing spots would be great, because I have fished everywhere.

LS1 the park off of Miller Rd. I have seen plenty of people pull some nice fish in there. And before I got my boat a couple of months ago I fished there and the rocks off of Miller Rd. Those two spots always produced fish for me. I also see alot of people cross the RR tracks at the jon boat ramp on the north side of Miller and fish there.

Lone star #1, You might try some soured grain. Throw out a coffee can full at start of fishing, use a float, small weight as possible, and cast out into the wind. It's hard to fish into the wind but thats where the cats will be.
If you loose your DK bait while casting your actually chumming the area. This is a proven way I have used fishing off the banks where there are fairly steep dropoffs with rip rap. Good luck

hi here im new at this but i saw what lonestar1 said about not having a boat well let me tell you of a good spot where you dont need a boat but i dont know how you feel about walking a little bit any ways is at rowlett creek by miller road but not where evry one goes by the bridge im talking about going all the way in and the only two way you can go out there is by parking your car at the little walk trail on your right coming from centerville to rowlett road. or going in the subdivicion thas there u turn into the first street to your right coming the same direction then you take another right at the stop follow it untill you get to what it looks like a water plant is between to houses and you can park there you go thru there and go towards the right you'll see where we been cuz is going to be clean there you'll even find some chairs but any ways if you go in the after noon and with cut shad go around 5 in the after noon or early in the morning one time we cought 73 all blue cats and the small one was only about 16" try it and good luck. dont tell anyone jejeje .

I fish that spot from my boat. When looking
north northeast up the lake from the RR bridge the first big Y shaped tree you see, might want
to try a few yards to the south east of it.
You bank guys could use a ballon rig to carry
your bait up to there when the wind is out of
the south.

Have not fished that spot in a couple of
months but have done well there.

Map here its 400k

Now if your out there and a 15 white
deck boat comes up wave me on in.
