All you guys write about is Cally and thats good, however have anyone on this forum given Braunig a chance. Just wondered the fish tend to be alittle bigger.
Thanks

This time of year I think most catfisherman are hunting larger blues. Cally has a good population of blues, Braunig does not.

I went to Brauning on Friday and killed them in the early morning. Fished the in-take and the out-take. Both on a cork and on the bottom.
Then I went out by diagonal from the wall and the no trespassing sign and roped three reds and called it a day. The fish are there just need to be at the right spot and the right time.
On the lake at 6:15 off by 11 with my limit.
Give a man a fish and you will feed him for a day, Teach a man to fish and he will be asking to borrow your boat.

I have been fishing at brauning and I am getting shut out. When you say out-take what are you talking about. I need whatever spots I can find.
Been doing good over at Cally though.

Sounds good, however I'm not seeing alot of blues on the table are the guys fishing just throwing them back? What is the best way to catch those blues at Cally? Are they on the bank or in deep water? Do you drift or just sit in one spot?? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

redfin, in my opinion, you would be well served to hire a guide one time. One day on the water with a guy like Cliff Hill would teach you more than you could learn on your own in a year. just an idea and good luck to you.

Thanks When we target the blues we either drift for them on areas like ridgelines and humps, or we anchor up in these same areas. You can find them both deep (20-30ft) and shallow some days they will bite aggressively, and others you wont be able to get them to bite at all. Cally is a little different than most lakes becuase it is heated, so the blues don't seem to really go into any real winter pattern. Last week water temp was 66-69 degrees. But, as it gets colder, the bait and the blues will move to the discharges so fishing those areas should be good. For bait I'll use anything I net at the lake, they eat it all, shad, bream, and tilapia. Now that the other side of the lake is open, I'm going to have to hit the area around that discharge, I have never fished it before. Oh and Hookem's advice is good. I hire Cliff Hill for my first trip on cally and it has paid off 10 fold.

My daughter and wife would argue, but I fish about 4-6 times a month. So I will get on the water once, sometimes twice in a week.

Well thats the difference I would say. I think with that, you gain the "on the water" time necessary to develop conclusions about the lake's patterns.
