Good video giving good information and good advice.

So, what does a gill net look like? How do I know a gill net from any other type net? Makes me want to carry my 'Judge' and put it to good use on these guys.

I sure hate hearing about stuff like that. People these days, If they'd take the time to learn how to fish, they wouldn't need to do that. What fun would that be picking fish out of a net, instead to feeling the thump or the fight of a fish?

The folks that do this dont get any fun from catching. Likely they are selling the fish. 1-2 guys fishing with nets are hurting the fish population of probably thousands of fisherman. Thats a slap in the face if you ask me...

I castnet for sunfish in rowlett creek, wanna call the game warden on me? I don't keep the crappie i net, so theres nothing illegal there. Seeing a castnet does not mean someone is keeping crappie, and assuming so makes you look like a DB when the game warden shows up and theres 20 bluegills in my bucket. I bring my castnet and a handgun when I go fishing, don't assume my CHL is for poaching or my castnet is for crappie.

FSO Has a point to be remembered. Having a Gun don't make you a Deputy or a murderer. I served in the U.S. Army because I thought rights like "innocent until proven guilty" were worth me putting my life on the line for.
The Game Warden has enough hard work to do without having to Calm down Lynch Mobs and Vigilantes.
Maybe we should wait and see what a person does with their catch before we generalize. I'm jes Sayin--

There's a big difference between cast netting and a gill net.

Its "Illegal" cast netters I was talking about. I net shad and gills in the creeks too, but only "non-game" fish go into the bucket. The only people that I call on are when they keep the sandies, hybrids, crappie...etc. During the sand bass run, is when the netters come out and keep all the sandies. A cast netter can destroy on hole in the creek w/ one cast and sometimes catch 100+ fish w/ one throw. The Game Wardens hate the netters w/ a passion and will come out when called. They will have to watch the netters to make sure they are keeping the fish out of the net to make a case and issue tickets.

It's bad.
My wife was fishing the river below Texoma dam and witnessed a large group of people using nets to take coolers (more than a few) full fish. I have personally witnesed people keeping Bass and Crappie while supposedly "casting for bait".
I keep the Poaching hotline handy in my Cellular contact list. This problem does need to be dealt with and by us Anglers to be more specific.

First 10 seconds of video he says "carry your cell phone, if you see a castnet". Id hate to have to shoot someone because they saw a video an wanted to confront a "poacher". Im the very last person anyone would want to approch in the woods with an attitude about my throwing a net. I have a fishing license, means Im gonna fish by ANY legal means I choose. I have always been completely open and cooperative with Game Wardens, but the first time some civilian-waterhead-treehugger reaches for my bucket/cooler hes gonna be really, really sorry(as I would likely feel threatened by this). I don't mind calling Op Game Thief when Its needed(its programed in my phone too), but without seeing them do something illegal, it wastes a Wardens time(which isn't any better) and disturbs the outdoor expierience of all those involved.
