To my surprise I've found out that my auto policy (I have full coverage) does NOT cover damage on a camper or trailer that I rent. Exception is if I'm renting to replace the one I own and it is under repair. So I'm in a little bind because I'm planning to rent a camping trailer next week and my auto insurance won't cover it; won't even sell me a binder for it. The trailer rental place does not provide insurance and if they do sell it, they said it'd be costly and not worth it. Anyone have suggestions? Does your auto policy cover rentals on towed trailers?

Most insurance companies will not cover damage to a rental trailer, however if the trailer causes damage to something else it would be covered by your auto insurance up to your liability limits.

Solution: There are a few carriers out there that extend the Comprehensive and Collision as well. One of those is Travelers; if you would like a rate with them give me a call or if you prefer the do it yourself option...our Auto/Home rates are online @ www.Rockwallinsurance.com * *Once I receive confirmation of online rates, I will go in there and put additional discounts and email revised quote to you.
