I was in Wal-Mart this evening looking at batteries for my boat. I need two batteries for my trolling motor. Thinking I knew what I was looking for I scanned through the selection of EverStarts. I quickly noticed there were four different types. 1. Trolling 2. Starting 3. Deep Cycle 4. Dual Cycle I know I don't need a starting/cranking battery for the trolling motor. Which of the other three would be best? Sorry for the ignorance, ratherBfishin

Good post. I didn't know there was such a thing as Dual Cycle. The only dumb question is the one you don't ask.
There's one...

My Everstart from Walmart became a never start after one year. I bought two deep cycle and one is gone and will not take a charge after one year. I think they do have a high end (yellow) battery that supposed to last.
I went to Academy and bought their deep ccycle. I already have one for cranking. Two years old and takes/holds a charge.
I think I paid $69 for the deep cycle. Well worth it. My buddy has Interstate and has had them for 4 years. My .02 cents.

Hey Roller22 if you take your batteries back to Wal-Mart you can get new ones free they have an 18 month free replacement. I have been using Everstarts ever since they started at Wal-mart only had one problem last month plate broke loose in one battery too bad it was over 2 years old.

I have not heard of Trojan batteries. Where do you buy them? I understand from dependable sources that for cranking the main enjine you use a starting battery. For the trolling motor you should use a deep cycle battery. The other names of batteries I have never seen before.

Continental distributes them in Dallas. I almost bought some the other day, but ended up with the Continentals. I bought my boat in 98 and just changed the old Conts out. They are off of Mockingbird at Irving Road.

Trojan,Contintal are all great batteries I have 4 Trojans in my golf cart at the lake. One thing to think of, a battery usly will only last 3 years for me any way. If you are fishing in po duk Tex and your battery gos south you can not get a replacementvery easly. If you are using a everstart from wallmart with a 36 mth warrnty you can get a replacement 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. Just my .02 Tim
