I have a 997c humminbird and every time i am running in rough water it locks up. Sometimes i have to disconnect the power to get it back to working right.Does any one know any thing about this or how I can prevent it?

Mine does the same thing. I have no idea why.

Mine would lock if my battery was weak. Especially if on while cranking the engine.

Glad to have taken..."the trash in the back!"

Do you have it wired directly to the battery with an inline fuse. If not run a couple of wires and hook up direct. Mine was doing the same when wired under the dash. This is what HB told me to do and it worked.

Retirement best job ever.

In the back of the unit whear you plug in the transducer you may be losing contact.what I did was bend my pins just slightly so they made better contact. This worked for me. Hope this helps

If all else fails, take it to Allstar and let them fix it.

I have a 997 as well and never has it locked up on me. Might be a loose connection as mentioned.

Mine locked up and froze too, and I figured it was a power thing, changed my battery and no new problems since the change! I would change or check your battery. Oh and mine is wired to the ACC switch at the dash.

They have excellent customer service...you probably have a cell phone. Give them a call next time and see what you can learn.
