What is the best set up for fishing spoons. Type of rod, action, line size and any other info you think is important?

I use a 7'3 loomis BCR 875 w/ 17lb flouro. This rod is a little on the heavy side but I have also used a 7' MH fast-action rod.

What size spoons are you going to be using? A lot of difference in a 2" spoon and a 5-6" spoon.

If you are referring to the 6" flutter spoons, like the LFT spoon, I have been fishing them on a 7' medium/moderate rod & 14lb mono line. The first couple times I fished them, I used a 7' MH/Fast and 17lb Floro. But I quickly learned that they can shake the spoon quite easily so I needed a rod that had a little give and mono to absorb the shock. Once I switched to that combo, my landing percentage increased. Also, since I let the spoon flutter on a slack line, I feel that the mono line facilitates this better than stiff floro.

This is a great question. I hate to hijack, but can you guys offer pointers on how, when and where to fish a flutter spoon? Sorry Catch-n-Release.

I'm currently using a 7' Heavy - Fast action Falcon orginal with 20lb mono. That rod has enough tip to throw larger topwaters, but also has some back bone when needed.

Im using the 4 to 6 in spoons in the 1 to 1.5 oz. range. Thanks for all the input. This will give me a good starting point.

Yeah, I'd like to hear some on this too. This technique could come in handy this coming week. I would think anyway.
