AM I correct in saying that with the elite dsi combo that you can go back and mark a w/p in the sonar history like the non dsi elite units? Also is going back in history an option for the bird dsi stand alone combo units?

thnx

With the Humminbird units only the on-screen images can be viewed.
If a recording is being done on a SD card, then the recording can be played back. That recording can also be viewed on a computer with some non-Humminbird software.
No history is stored in the unit's memory other than GPS data.

So there is not a cursor with the bird units? If that is correct how would you get gps info from the playback in machine on the water? Also I am assuming there is only 1 sd card slot in either unit, is that correct ?If the bird cant scroll back and you are running a mapping chip it looks like you are SOL on marking items off the screen. Am I understanding this correctly?

thnx

With the Humminbirds, you do get a curser on screen when you stop the scrolling, but can only save a waypoint of an object on the screen. When doing a recording, you can stop the recording, play it back, and mark/save a waypoint of anything on the recording. All of the newer Side Imaging units have two card slots. I have a Navionics card in one and a blank SD card in the other for recording and doing screen snapshots.
I haven't read about the new Humminbird DI units to determine if any of them have dual card slots.

But with Lowrance when you stop and put your crosshairs up to make a wpt or scroll back to make a wpt. ***The Lowrance unit still's scan. so you wont miss anything while you stop the screen. So you if made a wpt in area and drift 2-50ft or so and you're done making wpt. All you do is go back to really time scanning again and then start scrolling back again on the area you miss.

H-Bird does not have that option.

why would you stop the screen with the elite when you can go back into the history to mark a w/p?
