Hey any ford guys around?
I have a 2000 f-250 that when its cold, its seems to suck Air.
Thats the best way to describe it. Only does it when its cold.
I keep thinking the rubber seals that connect the Turbo to the air intake is loosing its seal and as it gets hot it expands and stops the leak. I checked them and tighten them several times but still does it. When it first started it would do it for a split second but now its getting worse. Can be for more then a second when its real cold. Once it get hot it is good to go. Any other Idea's? Hope it not the Turbo going bad. Been doing it for years so I would think if that was the case it would have gone bad by now. Thanks for any info or help.

I had the same year Model, and when it was really cold no matter how long I would let it warm up the first 15-20 minutes of driving It would have no power and sound really weird. I was told this was normal by several people.

Not all diesel engines have engine block heaters.

Would not make a difference for what he is describing.

I dont know what problem he is having, but if it only does it till it warms up... then using the block heater if so equiped will definately help!

IDK. My Ford is real cold natured and never has run right until warm. Plugging it in makes a night/day difference, but it's the 6.0L.

That 7.3 has a valve on the turbo that reduces back pressure to help the motor get warm during cold days. My truck did it until i replaced the turbo and took it off. I dont know what the name of the valve is but it is perfectly normal. The exaust will have a extra wistle sound and it seems like it has a boost leak then all of the sudden warms up. Its normal. Just let it warm up

had one at work. replaced the solenoid on the bottom that controls the valve and problem was fixed, but ours was doing it all the time. if it is only doing it for a bit than it is doing what is suppose to do, staying close to warm the motor.
