I have had one that was bent in the tail before, but not that bad! I wonder what causes that?

I would guess an injury from a water turkey or some other bird. He just managed to get away. Were there any visible scars?

I have seen some glass minnows with crooked tails like that swimming by the boat in the light. I also assumed it was from an injury that they survived.

I have seen a few with the bends near the tail but never one with one near the body nor that severe.

I caught about a 8lb blue that had the same problem. I just figure those are the ones that ride the short bus to school

just scoliosis...it happens to fish too, poor feeding, poor water conditions, or just simply genetic, there's no telling. That doesnt mean the conditions are poor now, but at one time, at least for him, they were.

When I was a kid in about 72, TP&WD was giving catfish to farmers for their ponds. We had a couple of cats just like that. They told us the reason and it was exposure to something, but for the life of me, I can't remember what it was. It was not a bad thing, just something that made them screwed up. I caught and recaught those guys until the 84 Drought killed them when they were probably about 5 pounds. They really like crawdads. Maybe that is the answer.....they were exposed to Cajuns!
I know what you are thinking....and you're wrong!
