jsinn01 is there running water in the yegua? There's very little running water. About the only places with good flow are directly downstream from the trailway bridge. I think the water level has dropped since I was out there three weeks ago. There's plenty of deeper water downstream, just not much of a current.

Just thought I'd add this... I was offered a job in Anchorage,Alaska! This will be my last season chasing the whites down at ole Skunkerville. So Id like to get a chance to meet everyone I did not have a chance to the last few seasons before I head out in May. But will keep visiting this section, keeping up with all my fellow Creek Rats! I'll take your WB tackle off of ya for a few bucks to help you pay for some new fishing tackle in Alaska.

Yeah, It was cold. And coming in from being on the lake all morning to heat up was nice. Wish that we had name tags. Weird to see the ice close/freeze back up behind the boat as I went through it that day.
Just couldn't stay long and had to make the run back to Birch. Waders sticking to the boat...I'll never forget that day.

All, Unless it really starts raining enough to flood the creeks at Somerville I don't plan on having anything at the lake for fisherman. We are planning a Texas Outdoor Womens Network event in place of the creek fishing clinic. If by some miracle we get rain enough to raise the lake before the middle of March then we will get a clinic put together real quick.

Lake is only 2ft low. Alot can happen between now and them. Weve seen this in the past couple years...lake real low and then BOOM we get flooded and they make a mad dash for the creeks. just be optimistic and have fun fishing!

I still like to fish the Yegua even if it's low. There are lots of big crappie and largemouth that stay in the creek year round and a few whitebass that get trapped. I'll drop in the yak at the low water crossing down from Newmans and fish all the way to wolf pond. there are several deep holes that have crappie and the bass can be just about anywhere.

Hey Raider, not enough rain to get the run going, to bad. The East Fork is flowing now mostley due to underground springs, etc so it might not take that much rain to get that run going, maybe this weekend. We need about a foot rise on the lake.
Newman's Bottom road is like a a 100 % improvment to previous years, if water does not go over it then it should stay open.
